Nestled closely together on the sofa, Alex in Olivia's lap, her head resting lightly on one breast. The movie bored her, so Alex amused herself by watching Olivia's reactions to her soft touch. Finally Olivia's concentration snapped and she flipped of the television. It seemed that the innocent looking blonde's naughty finger tracing circles around Olivia's nipple did have an effect on her. She pulled Alex into a smouldering kiss, leaving them both breathless with arousal.

"I know you didn't like the movie, but it didn't mean you had to spoil it for me." Olivia said in a playful tone. As she looked into the sparkling sapphire eyes, an overwhelming love for them took over her being. There had never been anyone that had made her feel this good by simply smiling, or being happy. There had never been anyone who she could truly love the way she did Alex. Alex's hands teased the soft skin under her shirt, and Olivia grasped them before they could reach their intended destination. "Baby, as much as I want you to do that, can we put it off until we talk a little?" The look on Alex's face turned from a happy, aroused expression, to one clouded with worry.

"What's wrong? Oh god, am I being too demanding?" She asked, emotion wavering though her voice.

"Nothings wrong, and I like you this way. Its just that we don't talk anymore...mostly my fault considering I can't get enough of you." Olivia's grin eased the tension that Alex felt in the pit of her stomach.

"So what do you want to talk about then?" Alex asked, while shifting her 'distracting' weight from her lap and turning to face her.

"Tell me something that I don't know about you. I want to know stuff like your first position in the DA offices, you know...other things, things like how many women you have been with..." Her voice trailed off. Alex smiled wickedly at Olivia.

"I know what this is about...you don't care about my job, your just trying to squeeze out when number on my list you are." Alex teased.

"Well..?" Olivia pushed. Alex looked deep in thought for a moment.

"Okay there have been four including you. Sonja, my first woman. She was when I was a junior in college, which lasted about four months, mostly because she graduated. Hey, don't looked shocked, I seem to have a little thing for the older woman." She grinned knowing that Olivia hated being called the older woman, even though there was five years between them. "My second was actually a junior, when I was in senior year. She pursued me for so long, and there was only two months till graduation, so I thought 'Eh, she's cute...why not.'" Olivia nodded, waiting for the next one. But no further explanations were forth coming.

"Well, what about number three?" Olivia inquired.

"No, now it's your turn to trade juicy stories." Alex commanded. Olivia retreated into thought for a moment before opening her mouth to talk.

"I almost slept with Elliot once." Shock registered across Alex's face, so she continued. "I had been working here for about two months with him as my partner. We had just caught a serial rapist who had everyone very emotional and we were sitting in the car outside my apartment talking. The moment was intense and I got caught in the moment. I kissed him, he kissed back, I took of his shirt, he took off mine. Then it suddenly hit us, the consequences that would come with these actions, him being married, us being partners. We stopped, never spoke of it again." Alex sat quietly taking in Olivia's confession.

"You know, when I first met you I could have sworn that you were head over heels for him...I guess that explains it."

Olivia shook her head. "It was just a crush, it passed...and now I could never be happier with how things have ended up. Elliot and I are close friends, and I have never loved anyone like I love you." Alex couldn't resist hugging her close for a moment. "Your turn now!" Olivia informed her.

"To tell you this also involves me telling you about what I first did when I was in the DA offices." Alex said quietly. She knew that this was dangerous ground, and she didn't like the idea of bringing it up now.

"You have slept with someone from the DA's office? Who is it, I'm intrigued, you can't not tell me now." Olivia said still lighthearted.

"Well, you know her, she helped out around here...before me." Alex could feel the heat rising to her cheeks as a shocked look of recognition crossed Olivia's face.

"Abbie Carmichael" Olivia whispered. It was a statement not a question. Alex took it upon herself to explain before Olivia could start shooting questions at her.

"Okay, well...when I got accepted into the DA office, I was assigned to help out Abbie, who had been accepted two years before. I helped only on the minor cases. I even got to second chair one. This was what...two years before I started here. Things between us had pretty much progressed into a friendship outside of work, and after I was there for about a year, I was at her house celebrating a win. I had...god knows how many glasses of wine, and as far as I know...so did Abbie. I accidentally dropped all the legal notes from the day on the floor and bent to pick them up. She bent down to help, she was so close I could feel her hot breath on my neck and when I looked up she kissed me. I guess you could say things progressed rapidly from there." When she stopped, Alex searched Olivia's face for any emotions that she might be feeling, but was confronted by the calm mask that she sometimes saw when she was at work, the one she raised when she was upset, but not wanting to show it. Afraid to look up higher into her eyes, Alex kissed her forehead. "So now you know." She finally looked into her eyes, and saw pain in them.

"How long?" Olivia asked, emotionless.

"About eight months, she broke it off about a month before I came to work here. It was good timing because I met this wonderful, intelligent, sexy woman, that I thought was straight and in love with her partner. A year later, I began to pursue her subtly and now I am totally in love with her." Alex stopped talking. Olivia remained silent, the image of Alex writhing under the beautiful and eloquent Ms Carmichael burned into her mind. "Liv...you okay?" Alex asked, concerned.

"Did you love her?" Her words ice cold, cut through Alex like stainless steal blades.

"I'd be lying if I said no. I did, but I was more in awe of her as an attorney than in love with her as a person. I guess that is what fuelled the relationship. But I never loved her, or anyone as much and in the same way as I love you. You are my world Olivia, always remember that." Alex again looked into the dark eyes of her lover, this time the hurt had gone, and clarity was all that remained. Whatever inner battles she was having must have been resolved. Her face lightened again.

"So, was she any good?" This time there was laughter in her voice, and Alex let out the breath she didn't know she was holding.

"Well, I had to teach her a few things, but overall not bad. Although, she could never drive me as crazy as what you do. When I imagine you hot and sweaty, and your wetness grounding into my hips, god I can almost cum thinking about it!" Alex rested her head on Olivia's shoulder.

"I must say, I feel sorry for the woman. It has just come back to me, but I walked into her office just as she was hanging up the phone. I assume that it was you now, because her cheeks were flushed, and her voice was huskier than usual. I don't know what you said, but she never had a chance." Olivia rested her head on Alex's.

"I remember that now...you must be the 'pesky detective' that was coming to visit." Alex fell sideways with laughter. "I jokingly suggested that she invite you to join us, and she muttered something about me probably liking you better. I thought it was that other detective...Geoffrey's that she was talking about...but she's right, I would have paid more attention to you!" Alex grinned into Olivia's neck. "Well, I am a little drained now. How about we curl up in bed, and I promise that tomorrow I will finish what I started before this talk!"

"I will hold you to that!" Olivia grinned, all things forgotton.

The End
