Summary: Sometimes the only thing we have left to control is the choice we make.

This is stupid, I know. Dangerous. But then, that's the allure, isn't it? Doing something none of them would expect, doing something he wouldn't expect.
I'm an intelligent woman. Not the rare brand of genius that my partner is, but not a mental lightweight, either. Very few people can make the intuitive leaps he can, but I keep up better than most.
Perhaps that is what I see in her. A chance to understand him. For she does, you know. She understands him in a way that the rest of us, the mundane world, cannot. She is his polar opposite; they are attracted by their intelligence, repelled by their morals.
Yet she has something, despite her moral turpitude, which he will never possess. She has me, intimately. For while I walk with him, I live in her.
And while it may be stupid, courting danger like this, it is my choice, the only one I can make outside this partnership that swallows more of my individuality each day.
